The idea that there are many paths to restoration and renewal is not a new one, but this dynamic certainly has been front and center in our news headlines and elsewhere in our lives lately, hasn’t it? And the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is a classic example of this. While formal restoration fundraising pleas apparently fell tragically short of goal for years, the fire brought in a billion plus Euros practically overnight. It almost makes me wonder if some divine hand was at play. . .
Think about it. The week before the fire, the statues of the twelve apostles and four evangelists were sent off for refurbishing, and therefore were safe from the flames. And while some artifacts were lost, the great treasures, such as a crown of thorns many believe to have been worn by Jesus at his crucifixion, and the Tunic of St. Louis, were saved. The altar, the golden cross above it, and the famous rose windows also survived. Amazing.
Inspired Generosity Spreads
Then, here in the US, this inspiration sparked donations to rebuild three historically African American Churches that had burned recently in Louisiana. That GoFundMe campaign went from less than $50,000 to over a $1 million in just two days. Also amazing.
“But why does it always take a tragedy to get people to do the right thing?” Did you hear people asking that question too?
For me, the answer is this. Many of us have so many other responsibilities demanding our attention that the needs of an historic, world-famous church with millions of visitors just don’t reach the top of our list. And those three, small churches in Louisiana? Well, we’re sorry they may have been victims of arson, but we don’t get to those either. Even the idea that we could do something to help repair the damage might never register in our consciousness.
But that’s the role that leadership can play. It can help us see that we can make a difference, even if our donation is not in the million-dollar range.
From Tragedy to Blessing
Not only that, but these fires also have shown us how quickly we can turn tragedy into blessing – and that people really do want to make a difference once they really believe they can. That inspiration often spreads faster than a flame.
Thank goodness that inspiration can move quickly, because so much in our world — and in our own lives — is asking for renewal. And that renewal is always available with grace and love in our Akashic Records, whether or not fire has yet to appear.
Maybe you know of someone for whom this is true? Maybe you know of someone who now looks back at some life tragedy – be it a death, a diagnosis or a fire – and tells you how grateful they are for the way it has changed their life for the better. They describe how they are more present, more grateful, and perhaps kinder than they were before.
Why Wait for Tragedy?
And that wisdom also begs this question: Why wait? Why wait for a tragedy to ask the Divine for renewal and restoration?
Many of us who work in our Akashic Records regularly will tell you how grateful we are to have this powerful spiritual process to connect to our souls. And while that regular spiritual practice of asking what we can release and renew in our lives today doesn’t guarantee a life free of fire or major illness, it does make navigating those things so much easier, so much more grace-filled.
So, let’s just take a few minutes now, shall we? Let’s do a little preventative spiritual renewal and restoration.
If you have a way of connecting to your soul, whether it be through your Akashic Records, or some other pathway, please do that now. If you don’t, you can use this recording of our Heart Integration Guided Meditation to take you to your Divine Heart.
And now let’s ask…
- What would be in my highest and best interest to release today into the Light of the Divine? (Maybe you even want to write your answer down on a piece of paper.)
- How can I best release this for my highest and best good? (Perhaps you now can tear that piece of paper into many small shreds, or even burn it safely and easily.)
- What can I grace in to replace what I have released, again for my highest and best interest? (And this you might want to write down to keep and read again later.)
And so it is.
